OK, first question: is this you? Be honest. We’ve all been there. Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’ is an absolute banger.
A woman has been jailed for eight weeks after playing that very same track repeatedly at high volume, creating an atmosphere not unlike that of an interrogation chamber in her street.
Sonia Bryce from Willenhall’s addiction to the song caused a “wholly unacceptable level of disturbance”, the judge said.
Her landlords secured a court order banning her from creating any further Ed Sheeran-related nuisances. However, she was arrested for breaking the order and sentenced to six weeks in jail in December.
She returned following her release, but just couldn’t stop herself, and was back to playing Ed Sheeran on repeat again. Her neighbours complained, and she was hauled back into court, where she was handed a further eight week sentence.
“You must learn that you should behave as a reasonable and responsible adult and not make life for your neighbours the misery that you have,” the judge told her, according to ITV News.
The report follows Ed’s own brush with legal issues recently. He gave songwriters of TLC’s track ‘No Scrubs’ a credit on ‘Shape Of You’ after he was accused of ripping the song off.
Its currently in its ninth week at No.1 in the Digital Sales Chart.
