Kendall Jenner found herself at the centre of a media storm earlier this month after filming an advert for soft drink giant Pepsi.
In the commercial, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was seen abandoning a modelling shoot to join a march after locking eyes with a cute Asian boy – and the scenes that followed made us cringe.
Not only did Kendall hand a can of Pepsi to a police officer, she later ripped off her blonde wig and tossed it at her black stylist, all the while seemingly unaware what the protest was even about.
After a huge public backlash, Pepsi was forced to issue an apology to both Kendall and the world as a whole. It read: “Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark and we apologise.
“We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologise for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”
But while that incident could be chalked up to an epic fail, we stumbled across something online this week that was an epic win for the brand.
Back in 2004, Britney Spears, Beyoncé and P!NK joined forces and created arguably the best Pepsi advert ever.
In the commercial, which lasted a whopping 3 minutes and 8 seconds, Brit, Bey and P!NK played a trio of fearless Gladiators ready to fight to the death in Rome’s Colosseum, all under the eye of the Emperor, aka Latino legend Enrique Iglesias.
But the minute they stepped into that ring, the ladies had a girl power moment and instead decide to unite and bring down the Emperor with their badass voices, belting out Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’.
The advert was made especially for the 2004 Super Bowl and, quite frankly, those behind Kendall’s recent commercial should also take a trip back down memory lane…
