Teenage model Thylane Léna-Rose Blondeau walked the catwalk aged four, became the centre of a media storm at 10 and now, having just turned 16, has landed a pretty mega job.
Thylane has been announced as L’Oréal Paris’ latest global spokesmodel and the new face of the beauty giant’s Hydra Genius campaign.
In a statement, the French model said: “Now I am turning 16, working alongside beauty talents and spokespersons I’ve long admired, is the best gift ever.
“L’Oréal Paris is truly a brand where I feel I can be myself, defending values that matter for me such as self-confidence and self-esteem.”
L’Oreal Paris, meanwhile, Instagrammed: “Happy super sweet 16 and welcome to the family we love you @thylaneblondeau #lorealparis #thylaneblondeau #worthit.”
But who is Thyalne Lena-Rose?
While most of us were still mastering writing our names aged four, Thylane’s modelling career was getting off to a flying start.
Tottering along with waist-length hair, she was walking the catwalk for Jean Paul Gaultier after he scouted her in the street. Oh, and she was also branded ‘the most beautiful girl in the world’.
But it was six years later that Thylane really turned heads…and not necessarily for the right reason.
In January 2011, the child model hit the headlines after she posed for French Vogue’s supplement, Vogue Enfants, wearing a gold minidress with a deep V neckline, stiletto heels and a full face of make-up.
David Cameron – who was the UK Prime Minister at the time – waded in and condemned the pictures, accusing them of ‘sexualising a child’. The Mother’s Union also backed his stance.
But Thylane’s mother, Veronika Loubry, was quoted saying: “The only thing that shocks me about the photo is the necklace that she’s wearing, which is worth €3 million.”
Thylane now has a staggering 1 million Instagram followers and is represented by IMG Models, who also look after Gigi Hadid and Karlie Kloss. The teenager’s net worth is unknown, but it is likely she is earning considerably more than if she was working behind the till in Boots on a Saturday. Selling L’Oréal Paris products…
