When November hits, we witness a whole 360 from pumpkins and cat ears to chunky knits and Mariah Carey. Christmas shopping becomes an instant reality, Instagram floods with pictures of trees and and your mum keeps on asking you for your Amazon Wish List.

However, nothing quite gives us that festive feeling like our favourite coffee shop Christmas cups. This year, they’ve come extra early, bringing that yuletide cheer into our lives before we’ve even had time to buy a winter coat. Right this very minute, you can actually walk into your local branch and come out with a Christmas cup of your own. And here they are…

Starbucks

The Starbucks approach is a little left-field this year. Switching things up from 2016’s all-red cup with white illustrations, 2017’s offering sticks to the standard white cup, covering it in colourful graffiti-esque etchings instead.

However, there are some great options to get inside said cup this year, including a fudge hot chocolate, which comes topped with golden chocolate curls. Yum indeed.

Costa

On the total flip side, Costa has gone somewhat traditional with its more classic Christmas cups. Sticking to the brand’s burgundy colour, they’ve slapped a large themed character on the sides, including gingerbread men, nutcrackers and Santa himself.

Costa is also keeping its summer Frostino on the menu this season, so you can enjoy the refreshing cold drink with a rich wintery twist, instead of the standard *because it’s Christmas* hot chocolate.

It’s always a slightly classier affair when Caffé Nero is involved (mainly because you’re less like to be barricaded in by prams) and its Christmas cups follow suit. The brand’s signature blue provides the backdrop for sophisticated illustrations, depicting people throwing as much chocolate into their coffee as possible and even topping their tree with a cup of the good stuff.

The festive feeling keeps coming with its range of seasonal lattes on offer, including gingerbread, roasted hazelnut and salted caramel flavours.
