It’s no secret that the Shevolution team have a big fat girl crush on Serena Williams, so you can imagine our delight when we spotted some incredible photos from her baby shower on Instagram.
The tennis ace celebrated the impending arrival of her first child with her closest pals at a 1950s-themed bash and what wouldn’t we have given for an invite?
This party looked awesome. The celebrity guests – including sister Venus, Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland, actress Eva Longoria and singer Ciara – posed in gorgeous polka dot dresses and poodle skirts alongside a badass red pick-up truck before rocking up at Nick’s 50s Diner in Florida to dance along to tunes from a jukebox.
Take a look at some of their brilliant social media posts:
Serena, 35, is engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. The couple is keeping the sex of their child a surprise, but Alexis did say on Jimmy Kimmel Live that Serena reckons it is a girl because “everything that little baby went through and handled like a champ, only a woman could be strong enough to take on”.
In case you hadn’t heard, Serena won her 23rd Grand Slam title at the Australian Open without dropping a single set while two months pregnant.
Serena Williams won the Australian open pregnant.
Idgaf who you think the greatest athlete ever is. They didn't win a major title pregnant.

She looks set to be the most brilliant, feminist mother. Need further proof? Here is just a handful of some of her most kick-ass quotes to back our expectation up:
“The success of every woman should be the inspiration to another. We should raise each other up. Make sure you’re very courageous: be strong, be extremely kind, and above all be humble.”
“Women have to break down many barriers on the road to success. One of those barriers is the way we are constantly reminded we are not men, as if it is a flaw. People call me one of the “world’s greatest female athletes”. Do they say LeBron is one of the world’s best male athletes? Is Tiger? Federer? Why not? They are certainly not female. We should never let this go unchallenged. We should always be judged by our achievements, not by our gender.” (Read her full open letter to women in the Guardian).
“If I have a daughter and she plays tennis, and I have a son who plays tennis, I wouldn’t say that my son deserves more money because he is a man. I would say they deserve the same amount of money.”
“I don’t have anything to prove ever. Ever in my life. You just have to prove to yourself that you can go out there and be the best that you can be and not prove anything to anyone. I think everyone should have that attitude.”
“Since I don’t look like every other girl, it takes a while to be okay with that. To be different. But different is good. I love me. I learned to love me. I’ve been like this my whole life and I embrace it. I love how I look. I love that I’m a full woman and I’m strong and I’m powerful and I’m beautiful at the same time. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
“You can be whatever size you are and you can be beautiful both inside and out. We’re always told what’s beautiful and what’s not and that’s not right.”
“People want more fit arms, but my arms are too fit. But I’m not complaining. They pay my bills.”
Keep on rocking Serena.
