OK, we’ll be honest. We’re getting tired of all these Instagram transformation pictures. What was wrong with the person before? Why is she better after months of dieting and gruelling work-outs, a shed load of fake tan and smaller pants? What’s inspirational about being locked in a strange pursuit of perfection that one never quite seems to achieve? There’s always something more to chip away at, sculpt or lose at the expense of real life experience.

It’s welcoming, therefore, to see the odd reverse transformation, like that of former US body builder Jolene Jones, to remind us that happiness really does come from within.

She’s gained 25lb since quitting her strenuous two-hour-a-day training program and tedious chicken and broccoli-based diet to have a social life. And she’s loving it.

“Body builder to body lover”, the 26-year-old wrote alongside her Facebook post. “This isn’t your typical transformation photo. I went from being controlled by my gruelling gym regimen and weighing chicken and having protein shakes in my purse to fully enjoying a social life.

“Some people might say this is ‘letting yourself go’ but you can’t put a price tag on happiness.”

“A six pack didn’t make me happy. I was never enough and always needing to improve,” she added.

The post has already gone on Facebook viral with over 47,000 shares and 140,000 likes.

Body builder to body lover. This isn’t your typical transformation photo. I went from being controlled by my grueling gym regimen and weighing chicken and having protein shakes in my purse to fully enjoying a social life. Some people might say this is “letting yourself go” but you can’t put a price tag on happiness. I call this finding myself and realizing I can have more than one passion in life, whether it’s hiking up in Glacier Park or enjoying beers with friends. A six pack didn’t make me happy. I was never enough and always needing to improve. Today I went rafting with friends and enjoyed food the old me would have drooled over and wouldn’t have dared to touch. Your body is quite LITERALLY the only thing that gets you through this life, your worth and joy isn’t weighed by what you can lift or what the scale says. My worth is weighed by those I surround myself with and the smile on my face. 💕 #bodylover #bodybuilder #balance #happiness #happyiskey #fitfam #formercompetitor #glaciernationalpark #gnp #middlefork #proteinislifebro #transformation #throwbackthursday #instafit #ilovepizza #montanawomen #montana

Speaking to US Magazine of the moment she decided to make the change, she said it was after her coach asked her to lose another four stone in weight ahead of her second competition.

“I was like, ‘Why am I doing this if I hate it so much? What am I trying to prove?’,” she said.

“Our body is quite LITERALLY the only thing that gets you through this life,” she wrote on Facebook. “Your worth and joy isn’t weighed by what you can lift or what the scale says. My worth is weighed by those I surround myself with and the smile on my face.”
