There’s something about the silly, squishy little face of a pug that, no matter what we are doing or who we are with, makes us drop everything and rush over for a snuggle.
The good news is that it’ll be cuddles all round come July because finally, after years of topping many a dog lover’s favourite breeds list, the popular pug is getting its first and only official UK festival.
This summer’s highlight, aptly and adorably named Pugfest, will be held up and down the country from Cambridge to Manchester, with dog owners encouraged to dress up their pooches in accordance with a fancy dress theme.
Themes this year include Hollywood, medieval and our personal favourite, Jurassic Pug, while events range from dog shows and ‘doggie dashes’ to a pug red carpet, splash zone, photo booth, live music performances, a ton of stalls and, erm, a Simon Cowell look-a-like (nope, no clue either, sorry).
Tickets start at just £8 per person (there’s no charge for your pug) but Pugfest is currently on the hunt for pug-mad volunteers, so if you’re over 18 and fancy bagging a free pass, why not sign up?
Head over to the official website and fill in your form today. But be quick, because we have a sneaky feeling this genius idea is going to be a hit…
