What’s that now? A McDonald’s VIP restaurant where you can pre-book a table is coming to the UK? No we are not making it up.
The brand is testing out the bookable ‘restaurant’ concept in the High Street Kensington Branch in London on 15 August for one day only, where customers can book online in advance.
Kensington is known for being a wealthy area of London. For starters the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge live there in Kensington Palace and it’s already full of upmarket shops and restaurants. It is therefore probably a wise choice to give this branch the McUpgrade.
Fast food chain Mcdonald’s has really been trying to posh it up the last few years. They overhauled how their ‘restaurants’ interiors looked with a green and wooden colour scheme, ditching their old school greasy spoon vibe.
The chain then introduced table service into select restaurants back in 2016. Customers can now order at the till or on screens and request their meal to be delivered to their table.
Next, they added a permanent collection of gourmet burgers to their menus, for those that didn’t love the deliciously addictive Big Macs. You asked for beefy burgers and they provided. Now they’re upping the ante again.
Not convinced a McDonald’s VIP restaurant can provide you with five star service? Think again. When you arrive at the event, your extra special welcome will involve a string quartet. It doesn’t stop there either because you’ll be escorted to your table before tucking into your meal with diamond-encrusted cutlery. Plus, you’ll be surrounded with velvet curtains. What more could you ask of your McDonald’s?
The stunt is to celebrate the earlier mentioned Signature burger range becoming a permanent fixture on the menu with bigger patties and brioche buns. How posh. And how can you make a fancy burger even posher? Have it served to you in a silver dome cloche by a butler. How very fancy.
Want in? Of course you do. Sign your details up here before 3pm on August 10 to be in with a chance of a VIP spot.
If you miss out don’t sweat it. The brand is considering making the posh restaurant a pop up on special occasions, so it will likely be back before you know it.
