The hottest UK interior design trends of the year have been revealed by Pinterest and if you want to get hip with your home decor, it’s time to look to nature, minimalism and the Summer of Love.
Last month, “the world’s catalogue of ideas” released its shortlist for the Best of Pinterest UK Interior Awards, with ten categories ranging from small space ideas and dream bedrooms to home DIY and interiors lust-haves (remind yourself of the nominees here).
The winners were recently announced and, to close the competition, the judges summarised the key themes that the 175 million Pinterest users have been rating while browsing interiors pins.
Here’s what came out on top:
Eco-friendly: think DIY furniture and Plywood kitchens
Outdoors, indoors: Plants in bathrooms are proving particularly popular
The Seventies: bold retro colours and textures are bang on trend, with shag rugs, vinyl players and peacock chairs ruling the roost
Shapes: hexagons and circles are making their way into homes
Diverse colours: forget boring colour schemes, anything goes, with copper, kitchen splashbacks, navy bedrooms and printed watercolour paper among the greatest hits
Less is more: long may Ikea’s minimalist reign continue
