Lipstick queens, you’re going to need to rearrange your plans to fit a trip to MAC into your Saturday.

The cosmetics giant is celebrating National Lipstick Day (our favourite day of the year after Christmas) by giving away free full-size lipsticks.

Makeup lover state-side are in for the biggest treat as all they have to do is rock up at a shop and pick a lippy in any shade, while those down under simply have to like MAC Cosmetics Australia’s Instagram page.

Those of us stuck in the UK and Ireland don’t have quite as a good a deal because we have to spend £40 (50) in any store to get our freebie, but that’s not much of a hardship especially when the lippies cost around £15 each.

There will be six shades to choose from over here – MAC Red, Captive, Cyber, Stone, Fleshpot (nicer than it sounds) or Media – but be quick, as the offer will only run while stocks last, which probably won’t be all that long.

Fancy a cheeky gander at the colours so you know which one to ask for? Click on the lippy below then click through the gallery to suss the shades.

The good news is that if you do miss out, or have a family wedding that you sadly can’t bail on for the free makeup cause, you can get a lipstick on the house all year round.

Not many beauty lovers know that if you bring any six MAC empties into a shop, they will give you a free lipstick of any shade (not just the six above) in exchange and recycle your leftover packaging. It’s a brilliant loyalty initiative that is friendly both to the environment and your pocket.

If trekking to your nearest store is a faff, you can also post your empties to Constellation House, 3 Kites Croft Business Park, Warsash Road, Fareham, Hampshire, PO14 4FL and let them know what lipstick you would like and what address to send it to.

Lipstick is MAC’s biggest category with one bullet produced every second. Ruby Woo, developed back in 1999, is the bestseller worldwide.
