Move Over Matte Lips, Lip Gloss Is Back Thanks To This Beauty Brand

Say hello to glossy lips again

We’re sorry to break it to you matte lipstick lovers, but non-shiny lips are out. Done. Dusted. Officially over.

Stepping into to take their place is a beauty classic that we all know and have definitely got our hair caught in at least once in our lives. That’s right, it’s time to welcome back lipgloss.

You may think of lipgloss as something you haven’t worn since the early 2000s (shout out to my Juicy Tubes crew), when your ten strawberry-flavoured coats would make your lips so sticky you’d barely be able to part them. Plus, with liquid lipsticks pretty much dominating the beauty world for the past few years, anything not flat and matte has barely got a look in.

But that’s all changing thanks to one innovative brand, which is turning its attention to a different kind of lip. Yep, you guessed it – it’s Fenty Beauty.

Rihanna’s self-named beauty brand has been a success story from the get-go thanks to its inclusive foundation shade range and covetable products, showing other cosmetics labels exactly how things should be done. Encompassing everything from highly-rated primers to poppin’ highlighters, Fenty Beauty has not only become a prestigious brand in its own right, but a real trendsetter in the industry.

So it’s no surprise that it’s just put glossy lips back on the agenda with its super shiny new must-haves.

First up, there’s Gloss Bomb, a one-shade-suits-all rosy lipgloss that looks as fabulous over a lip colour as it does by itself. Then there’s the recently-released Summer Daze/Summer Nights iridescent lip luminizer trios (in action above), which create stunning and colourful effects in one quick swipe.

Now, we know you might not want to go straight in and drop £20+ on a set of lipglosses, especially if you’re trying to tread this new trend carefully. Our advice? Try a more low-cost option to find a shade you really like before stepping up to the big guns of Fenty Beauty.
