“Learn To Have More Empathy”

Gigi Hadid appears to have it all. A modelling career to die for (not literally obv), a long-term, stable relationship with her boyfriend, Zayn Malik, and a bunch of celeb friends we’ve all probably got on our fantasy celebrity dinner party guest list.

But just like any other 22-year-old girl, she’s had to deal with her fair share of body shaming and opinions about the way she looks.

Well, after putting up with it from the industry she works in, along with god knows how many haters on social media, Gigi finally took to Twitter to explain this behaviour is totally unacceptable.

Understandably angry, Gigi said, “You may not know that when I started @ 17 I was not yet diagnosed w/Hashimoto’s disease; those of u who called me “too big for the industry” were seeing inflammation & water retention due to that”

The model then went into further detail about the medication she’s been given to help with her symptoms.

She added, “Over the last few years I’ve been properly medicated to help symptoms including those, as well as extreme fatigue, metabolism issues, body’s ability to retain heat, etc … I was also part of a holistic medical trial that helped my thyroid levels balance out.”

Admitting that “this skinny isn’t what [she wants] to be, but [she feels] healthier internally” – Gigi then decided to slam those who just thought she was another skinny girl on drugs.

She said, “Not to judge others, but drugs are not my thing, stop putting me in that box just because u don’t understand the way my body has matured.”

Quite rightly so.

After posting this series of slams to those followers who were more inclined to judge before learning the facts, Gigi’s celeb mates tweeted their support.

This is just another example of a young girl having to justify her life, her diet and her body to a bunch of strangers on social media because peoples’ opinions appear to have gotten completely out of hand.

The fact she’s stood up for herself is a remarkable thing but at the same time, she shouldn’t have HAD to.

As she said stated that she “will not further explain the way [her] body looks” anymore, hopefully that’ll keep the haters away for another while.
