Cycling teams the world over – be very afraid. Because Jason and Laura Kenny, the couple with 10 Olympic medals between them, have just announced they’re expecting their first child.
The athletes dropped a number of not-too-subtle clues on social media. Laura shared a picture of two adult bikes accompanied by a tiny green bike on Instagram. She captioned it with a simple heart emoji.
She later uploaded an image of a tiny pair of Adidas baby trainers.
Husband Jason responded to Laura on Twitter with a wry Simpson’s joke like so:
— Jason Kenny (@JasonKenny107) February 14, 2017
Spokesperson for the Kennys, Luke Lloyd-Davies, said in a statement: “I can confirm that Laura Kenny is indeed pregnant and that she, Jason and their respective families are absolutely thrilled and delighted with the news.
“They very much appreciate all the kind wishes and messages of support that they have received already.”
The couple married in a private ceremony in September 2016.
Bookies have already been inundated with bets on the future Kenny.
Katie Baylis, Spokesperson at Betfair, said: “With ten golds between them, expectations that baby Kenny will be a world beater as well are already high, so high in fact, that we have him or her at 10/1 to win more golds than either parent.”
We are almost completely certain the baby will be called none of these monickers – least of all Lance after disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong. But bets on names currently see Bradley as the 6/1 favourite, ahead of Lance at 9/1 and Victoria at 10/1.
