Lana Del Rey has been trying to curse Donald Trump using witchcraft.

The singer, who has just released her new album Lust for Life, asked her Twitter followers to gather together “ingredients” earlier this year, sparking speculation that she was attempting to place a hex on the US president to rid him from office.

NME quizzed her about this the other day, to which she replied: “Yeah, I did it. Why not? Look, I do a lot of shit.”

The dates Lana mentioned in her tweet were all dates of the waning crescent moon, which members of the occult believe is the prime time to cast spells to rid your life of negative energy.

Lana explained that she shares Yoko and John Lennon’s belief that “there is a power to the vibration of a thought”.

“Your thoughts are very powerful things that become words and words become actions and actions lead to physical changes,” she said. “I really do believe that words are one of the last forms of magic and I’m a bit of a mystic at heart.”
