Kim Kardashian Apologises For Racially Insensitive Beauty Advert
Kim Kardashian has apologised after receiving a backlash over images of herself posted on social media that were heavily edited to give her the appearance of darker skin.
The two shots were tweeted to advertise her signature contour product as part of the reality TV star’s new make-up line KKW.

The first photo received a large response online from followers accusing Kim of “black face”. The second showed the part Armenian star with far lighter skin, perhaps unwittingly highlighting just how unrealistic the photo editor’s tone and contrast in the first picture had been.
you black now sis?

In an interview with the New York Times about the beauty project, Kim decided to tackle the issue head-on… And blame it on her team.
“I would obviously never want to offend anyone,” she said. “I used an amazing photographer and a team of people. I was really tan when we shot the images, and it might be that the contrast was off. But I showed the image to many people, to many in the business. No one brought that to our attention. No one mentioned it.
“Of course, I have the utmost respect for why people might feel the way they did. But we made the necessary changes to that photo and the rest of the photos. We saw the problem, and we adapted and changed right away. Definitely I have learned from it.”
Elsewhere, and in typical Kardashian style, her beauty promotional trail has not been without incident.
Appearing on American TV show ‘The View’ (which is a bit like a US version of ‘Loose Women’ with more famous people), she confirmed that she was “taking a break” from step-parent Caitlyn Jenner, and admitted the two haven’t spoken “in months”.
Asked whether it was to do with the release of Jenner’s new book ‘The Secrets Of My Life’, Kim said: “Definitely I got upset about it.”
“To say I was shocked by putting some things out there that we just not true and were hurtful… At the end of the day my mom and Caitlyn had a 25 year relationship.”
However, she added that she expected the whole thing to “work out” because the family are so close-knit. Those of you who may have been concerned about that can rest easy. And maybe have a long, hard think about what went wrong in your lives for that to be a concern for you in the first place.
