Katie Piper has missed out on her daughter Belle’s third birthday after suffering from a nasty infection.
Inspirational star Katie was admitted to hospital on Tuesday after the skin around her eye became weepy and red.
After being seen by medics, the 33-year-old was diagnosed with preseptal cellulitis infection – an infection of the eyelid and skin around the eye.
Katie has since shared a picture of herself in hospital, thanking fans for their support and kind wishes.
Captioning the Instagram shot, she said: “Thank you for all your msgs – I’m in hospital with Pre Septal cellulitis infection, having treatment and hoping to go home tomorrow sometime fingers crossed.
“Think I’m jinxed on this day, second time I’ve been in hospital for Belle’s birthday!”
She had previously posted a picture of the Adult Urgent Care Unit at her local hospital, telling her followers: “Current situation!”
Katie suffered life-changing injuries following a horrific attack in 2008. The TV star’s ex-boyfriend had arranged for an accomplice to throw sulphuric acid in her face.
Since then Katie has undergone countless operations and procedures, but she has also used her experience to help others.
The mum-of-one, who presents Channel 4’s ‘Bodyshockers’, has set up The Katie Piper Foundation, which supports people with burns, disfigurements and scars, and she has penned several books.
Fans have been quick to send well-wishes to Katie, who married her partner Richard in 2015.
One said: “Wishing you a speedy recovery and hope you’re home very soon.” Another added: “I’m so sorry. I hope you are on the mend and enjoying family time so.”
Get well soon from us too, Katie.
