Bragging isn’t something many people can get away with, even when doing it in a ‘just kidding’ kind of way.
Adele, however, could quite possibly get away with anything, which is probably why she had the nerve to send Harry Styles the best 21st birthday gift she could have sent him.
The One Direction singer has been chatting to Nick Grimshaw ahead of dropping his debut solo single on BBC Radio 1 on Friday and of all his anecdotes, this one’s our favourite:
“For my 21st, Adele gave me one of her albums, 21, and said ‘I did some pretty cool stuff when I was 21, good luck’.”
That’s right, for his milestone birthday, Adele essentially gave Harry the gift of ambition, daring him to do one better. His (understandable) response? “Geeeeeez.”
Nonetheless, Harry knows full well how awesome a role model Adele is for aspiring singer-songwriters. “I think she leads by example, she’s the biggest, she’s amazing, she’s the best so she should be the biggest,” he gushed. “The thing with her is she’s a different thing, she’s just good at it, I like how she does everything.”
“Sign of the Times” will be played for the first time on Nick’s Breakfast show and according to the DJ, it’s “beautiful”. Be sure to set those alarm clocks, ladies.
