We all knew the Valerian blue carpet was going to be a high fashion runway when Cara Delevingne and Rihanna were both revealed as co-stars of the Luc Besson-directed sci-fi film. But that hasn’t reduced the drop of our jaws since premiere season started.
After a statement pink dress from Rihanna last week, Cara Develinge sparked a whole new trend we’d like to call “Mayoral Chic” at the event in London last night. Atop a slick, black cigarette pant suit sat a glimmering bejewelled cape, not unlike the finery traditionally worn by a portly person in charge of cutting ribbons at libraries and stuff.
It was first seen sauntering down the runway for Burberry earlier this year, alongside the full look, and will no doubt be an accessory imitated by many in the party season to come.
Cara’s outfit comes right after a more serious statement she made to the Radio Times this week. The multi-talented star, 24, claimed she was “not a model” and disliked what “she stood for” as a pawn in the fashion industry.
Did we mention she’s also released a new single? Listen to that here:
Meanwhile, Rihanna wowed in a busty and dramatic red Giambattista Valli couture gown as she continued her supreme reign over the sci-fi masses.
