The BRIT Awards are coming – and it isn’t always the music that we’re left talking about the following day!
Over the years, there have been some pretty shocking moments that have left our jaws on the ground and us hiding behind our hands.
Will something big go down at the BRITs 2017? Only time will tell!
In the meantime, here are the most awks moments EVER from the awards ceremony…
James Corden Talks Over Adele
In 2012, songstress Adele won the BRIT Award for Best Album, however her acceptance speech was cut short by host James Corden. The poor girl was so miffed at barely getting out anything more than a brief “thank you so much”, that she raised a middle digit before exiting the stage. Oops!
Peter Kay brands Liam Gallagher a “k**b head”
In 2010, funnyman and BRITs host Peter Kay hit the headlines after branding Liam Gallagher a “k**b head”. Liam had launched his microphone into the stunned audience, who had just endured his expletive-ridden acceptance speech for BRITs Album Of 30 Years, when Peter spoke his mind. Liam later tweeted: “Listen up fat f**k, as a real northerner I was brought up 2 say s**t 2 people’s faces not behind their back.” Err, nice.
Cheryl (then Cole)
Not so much awks, but more scary… Cheryl’s performance at the 2010 BRIT Awards was hotly anticipated as, in the lead up, it was revealed that her then-husband Ashley Cole had been playing away – and not in the footballing sense. Cheryl powered on through, but her fury was very clear to see as she practically spat out the lyrics to ‘Fight For This Love’. She later fled London and jetted straight to Los Angeles and the rest, as they say, is history.
Jarvis Cocker Bares His Backside
Michael Jackson’s BRIT performance of Earth Song has been repeatedly talked about for years…for the wrong reasons. The now late-MJ was doing his thing when Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker jumped on stage and flashed his bum. Jarvis was promptly bundled away and later said: “My actions were a form of protest at the way Michael Jackson sees himself as some kind of Christ-like figure with the power of healing.” Well, he certainly got his point across…
Madonna Stacks It
Madonna took the stage by storm at the 2015 BRIT Awards – then promptly stacked it. Madge took a tumble off a podium when a backing dancer pulled away her matador-style cape before she had managed to untie it. Poor Madge. And more importantly, poor backing dancer. Could you imagine?!
Sharon Osbourne and Vic Reeves
Sharon, God love her, isn’t one to keep her mouth shut. In 2008, she accused comedian Vic Reeves of being too drunk to present an award. In fact, she sneered: “You’re p*****. P*** off you b******!” Viewers complained to TV watchdog Ofcom and Vic was said to be “hurt” by her outburst.
