It’s World Gin Day today which means it’s time to (temporarily, at least) forget about your election blues and the state of our country and drown your sorrows in some artisan G&Ts.

To help you celebrate, we’ve rounded up some of the best events going up and down the country. Saturday? More like SaturYAY.

Strawberries? Raspberries? Pah, it’s all about the juniper berry. This annual gin festival returns to London’s Tobacco Dock today and tomorrow, with an enticing array of events, masterclasses and gins on offer.

Chat to the makers of your favourite tipples, sample their wares and buy any that tickle your tastebuds, before heading to the cocktail bar to join a room full of gin geeks. Tickets cost £30 per person, but there’s still time to grab a limited early bird pass for £20.

Gin Journey

If it’s a full-on gin tour you’re after, try Gin Journey’s award-winning events in London, Manchester, Liverpool and Edinurgh. Far from snorefests, these tours include five gin cocktails, five samples of craft gins, five stops at inspiring distilleries and history with humour as told by witty Gin Guardians. “Like a school trip, only sexier,” wrote one enamoroured reviewer.

There’s no need for drunken ambling as the tour is chauffeur-driven by minibus every Saturday, and often other nights too. Tickets cost £52.75 per person everywhere but London, where you’ll need to fork out £60-75.

Gin Glorious Gin!

Booze and exercise don’t usually go together but, really, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t. We’re told to drink after doing sports, right? Gin might not be water, but a liquid’s a liquid, and this London running tour reckons you deserve an ice-cold G&T at the end of a five miler.

Expect gin-themed games, fun gin facts and eight stops at historic gin palaces, before a bevvie on the house at a secret final destination. Tickets start at £29 from Secret London Runs, with a choice of tours and dates depending on your running pace.

Glasgow Juniper Festival

The Scots do it best. Head to Glasgow for a two-day festival that kicked off yesterday, celebrating juniper in all its glory. The Glasgow Juniper Festival held in the city’s SWG3 venue promises tasting sessions, masterclasses and a ton of mouthwatering street food. Tickets cost £21.50 and are available here. Doors open at 12pm.
