Are These The Best Kids’ TV Shows Of The 00s?

Lizzie McGuire

We all remember that feeling of waking up early on a Saturday to bag the TV remote and watch our favourite show. And there are plenty of tween shows we’d secretly love to see back on our screens – even though the chances are pretty slim.

But for now why not comb your hair into a zig-zag parting, pop on some rhinestone-covered bootcut jeans and take a trip down memory lane with us…

50/50

You’d be lying if you said you didn’t dream of your school appearing on ’50/50′. But with the dreaming came the sheer panic that, if your school was chosen, you’d been too naughty in class to be picked. Oh the stress.

Lizzie McGuire

Lizzie McGuire: The girl who managed to rock crimped/curled/straight hair…all at the same time. But while we had wardrobe envy of real-life Lizzie, played by Hilary Duff, this cannot be said for cartoon Lizzie. Did she EVER change her clothes?

SM:TV Live

SM:TV Live ruled our Saturday mornings with a weird but fun comedy sketch show hosted by Ant, Dec and Cat Deeley.  Featuring a whole heap of bizarre, tongue-in-cheek and innuendo-filled sketches, you may remember SM:TV was also the place you cold watch episodes of the Pokémon TV show!  Plans are in the pipeline for a reunion but we’ll have to wait and see if it happens.

The Powerpuff Girls

Remember a time when ‘The Powerpuff Girls’ ruled? These three lasses had serious sass, plus a shedload of merchandise to boot. Come on, admit it, you had a t-shirt.

Art Attack

Ok, so still technically on our screens via some kids’ channel, but what is ‘Art Attack’ without legendary host Neil Buchanan and The Head? Remember the latter? Slightly freaky, right?

The O.C.

We were ready to pack our bags and move to Orange County during the noughties. ‘The O.C.’ was the programme to watch…and apparently the place to be. If you were fit, American and had a generous wad of cash that is. •sigh•

Dick and Dom in da Bungalow

Like ‘SM:TV’, ‘Dick and Dom in da Bungalow’ was Saturday morning gold. A whole two-hours of LOLs to kick off the weekend – what more could a kid want? Looking back, if it were to return, we’d probs suggest ditching the game ‘Creamy Muck Muck’. Sounds kinda dodge.

Zoey 101

Never mind Britney, hands up who wanted to be younger sis Jamie-Lynne Spears growing up? On point fashion and a squad that would rival Taylor Swift’s. Is there anything Zoey 101 didn’t have?

That’s So Raven

We’ve saved the best ’til last because, like ‘SM:TV’, ‘That’s So Raven’ is making a comeback. Yup, that psychic fashionista is returning for a spin-off series, called ‘Raven’s Home’. Raven-Symoné is reprising the lead role and viewers will get to see her going through the challenges of adulthood with her best friend Chelsea Daniels, played by Anneliese van der Pol. Bring. It. On.
