Planning to bag a Christmas outfit for as little as possible rarely comes off, as we often end up spending a whoooole lot more than we realise. Between a new dress, some shoes to go with it, a matching bag and a new lipstick on top (because it’s Christmas, why not?), the overall bill soon inflates far beyond our original budget.

In fact, a survey of 500 women by Quiz Clothing has now shown that that number almost reaches £100, with the average Christmas party outfit costing women £91.50. Not only that, but 42 per cent of us plan to spend between £30-59 on the outfit alone, excluding shoes and accessories.

So, not only are we saving up to buy our friends and family Christmas presents, but adding a whole lot on top of that for one night on the town. But if you can’t treat yourself at Christmas, when can you?
