10 Of The Best Shows And Films Coming To Netflix This October

Stranger Things
The end of the month sees Stranger Things return (Netflix)

If Netflix is pretty much your life, buckle up, because this month on the streaming platform is going to be MEGA. A whole load of classic films, new TV shows and box sets we’ve been waiting for are landing in October 2017, so you might as well wave goodbye to your social life now.

From Stranger Things season 2 to The Notebook, there is quite literally something for everyone. We guarantee you’ll be adding quite a few of these favourites to your list…

Stranger Things 2

On Netflix: Friday 27th October

It’s the one we’ve all been waiting for… That’s right, the countdown is on to return to the Upside Down. All nine episodes drop at once, so that’s your Halloween weekend sorted.

The Notebook

On Netflix: Sunday 1st October

Few romantic films beat The Notebook, so prepare to cuddle up to someone you love and cry your eyes out. Or just watch it alone and swoon over Ryan Gosling, your choice.

Notting Hill

On Netflix: Tuesday 17th October

Take a trip back to nineties London with Notting Hill, when people could actually afford to live in the capital just off the back of running a failing travel bookshop. It’s funny, sweet and oh so British.

Riverdale season 2

On Netflix: Thursday 12th October

Riverdale is back with an absolute bang this October, levelling up from season one’s 13 episodes to 22 this time around. They’ll be released weekly, though, so you’re in for the long haul with this one.

MINDHUNTER

On Netflix: Friday 13th October

If crime shows are your thing, you need to get into original Netflix series MINDHUNTER. Starring Glee and Looking‘s handsome Jonathan Groff, it follows a fictional team of FBI agents attempting to get into the minds of serial killers.

Good Will Hunting

On Netflix: Sunday 1st October

One of the late Robin Williams’ finest, this 1997 flick chronicles the relationship between his character, a therapist, and a misguided yet extremely smart young man played by Matt Damon.

The Meyerowitz Stories

On Netflix: Friday 13th October

Starring a bumper cast of Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman, Emma Thompson and Elizabeth Marvel, this comedy revolves around a group of older siblings dealing with their slightly eccentric artist father.

Robin Hood: Men In Tights

On Netflix: Wednesday 4th October

If you didn’t watch Robin Hood: Men in Tights growing up, your youth basically wasn’t worth living. Prepare to LOL repeatedly at this 1990s Mel Brooks-directed spoof, which is filled with pure stupidity, utter ridiculousness and a cameo from Patrick Stewart.

The Death And Life Of Marsha P. Johnson

On Netflix: Friday 6th October

Marsha P. Johnson, hailed as the Rosa Parks of the LGBT movement, was found dead in New York’s Hudson river in 1992, but a question mark still hangs over her death. This documentary digs deep to find out what really happened to her.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective

On Netflix: Sunday 1st October

Another nineties classic is landing on Netflix this October (they’re all about the oldies, aren’t they?), with Jim Carey’s way-over-the-top comedy sure to make perfect Sunday night viewing. Bonus: Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls is arriving on 15th October too.
