The UK’s 10 Most Beautiful And Instagram-Worthy Beaches


Summer 2018 is turning out to be one of the hottest and driest summers since records began. And with so many hot days, the beaches are less crowded meaning you can enjoy some spectacular views and take photos that set your Instagram profile on fire.

Now if you’re wondering where the most beautiful beaches are located. We’ve taken research by Globehunters that analysed Instagram hashtags to find the most instagramable beaches in Europe and used it to round up the top 10 most Instagram – worthy UK beaches.

Our list includes a couple of of the most popular beaches and some lesser known gems that are so spectacular it’s hard to believe they are in the UK.

10. Luskentyre, Isle of Harris, Scotland

The  only Scottish entry – Luskentyre is in the Outer Hebrides and boasts white sanded empty beaches, turquoise water and amazing sand dunes.  From Luskentyre, there are also amazing views of Taransay, where the early noughties show Castaway was filmed.  You may need to wear a extra clothing and for most people it will be a bit of a trek, but this beach is definitely worth a visit.

9. Tenby, Pembrokeshire

Previously ranked as the best beach in Europe and with a heap of clean beach awards, Tenby is one of the most photographed harbour towns in the UK. In addition to the white sands and turquoise water, Tenby also has a picturesque marina and coloured houses similar to those in Children’s TV programme ‘Balamory’.

8. Rhossili Bay, Swansea

Voted Wales’s best beach, Rhossili Bay has 3 miles of golden sands, crystal clear water. And iconic landscapes such as the Worms Head and Rhossili Down.

7. Blackpool, Lancashire

Known for it’s nightlife and donkey rides, Blackpool isn’t usually thought of as one of the most picturesque seaside spots. However visitors have flooded Instagram with picutures of Blackpool’s pier, Ferris wheel and  the iconic Blackpool Tower.  Head to Blackpool from 31stAugust until 4thNovember and you’ll also catch the spectacle that is Blackpool Illuminations.

6. Weymouth, Dorset

Located in Weymouth Bay, this beach has the most spectacular golden sands. Although it can get busy when the sun is out, you will be able to take some incredible vintage photos including the clock tower, punch and judy show. The nearby harbour and lighthouse also make great backdrops.

5. Porthmeor, Cornwall

In addition to its beautiful sandy beach and turquoise water, Porthmeor also has a stunning rock formation.  If you are looking for the most gorgeous sunset picture, this is one of Cornwall’s best beaches to visit.

4. Porthcurno, Cornwall

If you can brave the narrow lanes, Porthcurno is well worth a visit.  As on arrival you will find the most beautiful unspoilt beach which looks more like a beach in the Caribbean.

The most popular Instagram photos include Porthcurno’s white sandy beach and turquoise waters. The Minack (open air) Theatre is perched on cliffs above the beach and provides a unique setting. Porthcurno is also located 15 mins drive from Lands End.

3. Bournemouth, Dorset

Voted as the UK’s best beach in the TripAdvisor’s Traveller’s Choice awards, Bournemouth boasts seven miles of spectacular sandy beaches.  The beach huts, ferris wheel, water sports sandy beaches and turquoise sea all present a stunning back drop.

2. Durdle Door, Dorset

Durdle Door has an iconic natural limestone arch which is clear Instagram favourite. Declared as England’s first World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001, Durdle Door is up there with the Grand Canyon and Great Barrier Reef. Next to the arch is a bay containing a beautiful pebbled beach and a turquoise sea.

1. Brighton, East Sussex

Famous for its enormous Victorian pier, Brighton beach is as popular with Instagrammers from nearby London and visitors from abroad. Top snaps include Brighton’s enormous Victorian pier, colourful beach huts and its pebbled beach.
