Ellen DeGeneres is a talk show legend, interviewing everyone from Kim Kardashian to Pink to Justin Bieber.
But the US star is now set to return to her roots, after signing up to a one-off comedy special with Netflix.
Ellen confirmed her big news on Twitter, after Netflix hinted: “Looks like it’s been 15 years since you did a stand-up special, @TheEllenShow. How about one for Netflix?”
The 59-year-old replied: “Let me think about it. Ok I’m in.”
Ellen later released a statement, but admitted that the standup special is only in its very early stages.
She said: “It has been 15 years since I did a stand-up special. 15 years. And I’m writing it now, I can’t wait.
“I’ll keep you posted when and where I’m gonna shoot my Netflix special. I’m excited to do it; I’m excited for you to see it.”
Ellen’s last ‘special’ was in 2003 and called ‘Ellen DeGeneres: Here and Now’. Produced by HBO, it was recorded in New York and, as she put it, focused on “modern life and other inconveniences”.
She’s excited – and so are we.
