Everything We Know About Rihanna’s New Make-Up Line

Rihanna has revealed that her much-hyped first make-up line, Fenty Beauty, will be launching on 8 September.

That’s right, there are just months to go until our favourite Barbadian blasts onto the cosmetics scene with a collection sure to zoom straight to the top of our credit card bills.

Details about what make-up lovers can expect from the line have been kept secret (dammit), but the brand will be released under Sephora subset Kendo, home to edgy cosmetics collections by the likes of Kat Von D, Ole Henriksen and Marc Jacobs.

David Suliteanu, CEO of Kendo, has described Fenty Beauty as “a beauty rocket ship that will appeal to a huge and diverse global audience”, which bodes very well indeed. Especially the“diverse” part.

There’s been no word yet as to whether not the collection will be ethical, but we’re keeping our fingers firmly crossed that Ri-Ri has thought about beauty on a deeper level and kept things cruelty-free.

Bagging a deal with the pop megastar is rumoured to have cost up to $10 million, but she has an impressive track record of success when it comes to branching out from music and influencing trends.

Back in March, she hit headlines when models showcased her daring new Fenty x Puma collection at Paris Fashion Week, with plenty of nipples, breasts and underboob on display. It’s Rihanna, what did you expect?

One rumour, bounded about by Harpers Bazaar at the time, suggests that the pink holographic lip colour used at that runway show will be the first Fenty Beauty release. Knowing her, we can expect some pastel eyeshadows and sublime nudes, too.

Ri-Ri launched her blingy Rihanna x Chopard jewellery collection at Cannes last month and, shortly before that, she gifted us with these 90s-style Puma jelly slides, the only shoes we want this summer (in every colour way, naturally):

Cosmetics-wise, she collaborated with Mac in 2013 for the limited edition line RiRi Hearts, before becoming the face of their Viva Glam lipstick a year later to raise money for HIV research. She has released seven perfumes for Parlux Ltd and raised $46,000 in a single afternoon during a 2015 promotional appearance at Macy’s in Brooklyn.

Fenty Beauty, named after herself (ICYMI, Rihanna’s real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty), will be sold in Sephora. Before you panic, other retailers will be found in countries currently missing those stores, so UK make-up addicts shouldn’t have to miss out.
