Algorithms really do suck from a user point of experience. They assume they know what we want to watch based on a few choices we made previously. As of yet, however, algorithms aren’t emotionally perceptive enough to know when we’ve made bad choices. Or if we wish to make different ones. Or if our kid nephews have been on there racking up hours and hours of Star Wars cartoon data.
Thankfully, there is a simple way around it: an unlocking code to improve your range of choice and hopefully speed up your decision process.
There are actually more than 76,000 categories of movies and TV shows available on the Netflix data base, and each is identified with a numerical URL.
For example: www.netflix.com/browse/genre/1366
The not completely thick among us may have already worked out that to change the genre category, all we have to do is change the number on the end of the URL.
Here are the Top 10 most viewed categories to get you started, but by all means explore. There’s some incredibly random ones in there.
