Mean Girls: Where Are The Stars Now?

Mean Girls first hit the big screen in 2004, meaning we’ve had 12 joyous years of quoting Regina George.

So, is butter a carb?

Later this year, a stage version of Mean Girls is set to premiere in the US (and let’s hope it makes its way across the pond too), but what happened to the stars of the blockbuster flick?

Linday’s life has been a little, shall we say, ‘colourful’ since she landed the leading role of Cady Heron in 2004. Unfortunately, like many child stars, LiLo spent her late teens in and out of the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The star battled drink and drug addictions and spent several stints in rehab. In 2011, she was even charged with stealing a necklace and handed a jail sentence. Thankfully, we’re pleased that Lindsay, 30, has cleaned up her act and turned her life around. In 2014, she hit London’s West End in the stage production of Speed-the-Plow and is now said to be converting to Islam.

Rachel’s career has gone from strength-to-strength since her Regina George days, the one member of the Plastics we all secretly L-O-V-E. State Of Play and Sherlock Holmes are just two of the mega movies she has starred in since walking the halls of North Shore High School, along with the HBO series ‘True Detective’. And we’ve not even started on the gongs and nominations. Screen Actors Guild Award, anyone? This year, Rachel is set to appear alongside Rachel Weisz in big-screen movie. Disobedience. Did we mention that 38-year-old Rachel is also a staunch environmentalist who also regularly volunteers for charity. Is there anything this woman can’t do?

Gretchen Wieners really should stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen. After all, it’s been 12 whole years! While she’s been focusing on ‘fetch’, Lacey Chabert has had her hands pretty full – and not just with her “weird hairline”. Come on, we know that’s Gretchen, but we just had to chuck that one in there. Lacey has been in more TV shows and feature films than Regina has had carbs. And, in 2015, she married long-time love David and is mum to two children. Maybe they will be able to make ‘fetch’ happen?

Amanda Seyfried

Bless Karen Smith. An entire…well, picnic…short of a picnic, but her heart was in the right place! Since playing ditzy blonde Karen, Amanda has starred in everything from horror movies to erotic thrillers to romantic war films. But taking the lead role in 2008 movie Mamma Mia! is one of her career highlights. In November 2016, Amanda revealed that she is set to become a mamma herself with her actor fiancé Thomas Sadoski and the pair are HUGE animal lovers. If you don’t believe us, check out her Instagram…

Amy Poehler

Only known as Mrs George, Regina’s mum is arguably one of THE BEST characters in Mean Girls. Played by Amy Poehler, Mrs George is not a “regular mom”, she’s a “cool mom”. Amy is pretty cool herself, actually. She’s won a Critics Choice Award and a Golden Globe for her role in the comedy ‘Parks and Recreation’, and she’s been nominated 18 times for a Primetime Emmy. Last year, Amy actually scooped a Primetime Emmy for her guest appearance in Saturday Night Live!. We’d actually like Amy to be our mum.

Diego Klattenhoff

Two words: Projection Room. Diego’s big Mean Girls moment came alongside a grey pair of Y-fronts. It seems Regina George didn’t care for a nice pair of CKs. Diego hasn’t, however, been held back by his character Shane Oman’s grey undies. Quite the opposite, in fact. Diego has starred in ‘Homeland’ and is now in his fourth season of NBC and Netflix crime thriller ‘The Blacklist’. It’s fair to say that this guy has come a very long way since he was caught covering his manhood while carrying on with Regina George!

Daniel Franseze

Known as ‘Damien’, Daniel’s character was a master of one-liners. Don’t tell us you’ve never said: “Yo go, Glen Coco!” Daniel has continued with acting, starring in a string of small movies and TV shows. His Twitter is pretty amusing too, and he has even commandeered the hashtag #HouseOfGlenCoco. But what happened to Glen Coco? Well, funny you should ask…

David Reale

Canadian actor David has become a living legend all thanks to his non-speaking part of Glen Coco. We mean, you can even buy a t-shirt emblazoned with four candy canes and the words: “4 for you, Glen Coco. You go, Glen Coco!” Glen David, is still working as an actor. But surely nothing he ever does will reach such acclaim?!

Rajiv Surendra

A mathlete AND a rapper. Rajiv played Kevin G in Mean Girls but, although he is still starring in movies, he has hung up his microphone. Sad times. Rajiv is actually a pretty impressive artist and showcases his work on Instagram. Oh, and the odd pic of him, Daniel Franseze and Taylor Swift. Natch.

Lizzy Caplan

Lizzy’s Mean Girls character Janis Ian was not a fan of the Plastics. And she didn’t hold back when telling Cady she was one while hanging out of a sun roof. (Quick question, do cars even have those anymore?) Lizzy is now famed for her leading role in provocative drama ‘The Masters Of Sex’. Sadly, the show has not been commissioned for a fifth series but Lizzy DID get engaged to her co-star and beau, Tom Riley, last year.
