For some reason, the standard denim jeans we have all been wearing for decades have become boring. They aren’t boring, they’re a classic and we will always love them, but the likes of Topshop, Nordstrom and Opening Ceremony, are determined to make a modern twist on the most timeless item in our wardrobe happen.

First came these awful clear plastic jeans, then the too-stupid-to-contemplate fake mud jeans and now, to plant our heads well and truly into our hands once more, detachable jeans are a thing.

Oh god…

…oh no…

…argh!

Just in time for summer, these jeans allow you to rock shorts at a moment’s notice. Or, you can wear them as full-length trousers with your bum cheeks hanging out.

“These 2-in-1 Y/Project trousers come in a straight-leg silhouette with slim-fitting, detachable shorts that feature high-rise cutouts along the front,” reads the product description, before revealing that these monstrosities cost a criminal $425 (£328).

The look on the model’s face surely says it all. It’s a big fat no thanks to this one.
